It is important to for child to learn about and be exposed to different cultures. The best way to teach children about diversity is to make the activities fun. This way a child will be interested in the lesson and want to find out more information. One of the best ways to teach children about different cultures is by attending plays and musicals.
There are many shows that can teach a child about culture. One of the most famous is the Les Miserables. This famous book was made into a play.Didn’t catch that? <a href='http:// frenchalacarteblog.wordpress.com/2012/04/25/do-you-french-street-talk/’>This explains it. It tells about the French Revolution and gives background history on France and the French culture.
Another great musical and show on in how different culture related to another is West Side Story. This is a popular musical and show that is still performed all over the country. This is a story about an American boy and a girl from Puerto Rico falling in love. This story tells about their different cultures and the trouble they faced trying to be together. It shows of cultural differences and how they are worked out.
When teaching children about different cultures their study should be as interesting as possible. The use of plays to teach cultural diversity is a great educational tool to use.

The US State Department recognizes 194 independent countries in the world, each and every one of these countries have their own customs and traditions with great pride. If you want to learn the culture of one of these countries you can start by seeing their passion through their theatrical performances. The writers for these theatrical performances rely on the culture and attitude of their perspective countries to tell a story in their own natural language with their unique experiences. Throughout history there have been thousands of productions from different cultures with unique qualities and the best part of these performances is that they come in all varieties of styles. You have dancing, acting, singing and even their unique versions of fighting to show the world and all you have to do is take a chance buy a ticket and experience the effect of someone else’s culture. Once you take this opportunity you will not regret it, but the secret is you have to see the production in its own original language and style the writer had it intended for. Believing is seeing you will have to experience this for yourself and make a judgment not only on what you hear but what you see, feel, and personally experience.

When watching an actor, they keep a persons attention when they are not just acting, but putting themselves into character. Acting is after all trying to make individuals believe they are the character they are portraying. When an actor acts in a manner that is believable, the audience will be ‘spellbound.’

It doesn’t matter which play or character the actor is portraying, the character ‘must come alive through them.’ When the actor brings the character ‘to life,’ that is the sign of a performance that is magnificent and makes an actor ‘professional’ at acting. The same is true for any singer of any type of song. The singer performing must bring the song to life. When the stage, backdrop and colorful costumes are chosen to help portray the time the characters lived, they help tell the story line. When all these features blend it will magically add to the performance, and it increases the opportunity to leave an audience ‘spellbound.’ When actors can interact with each other and make the performance so realistic, that is professional acting at its best.

There are some musicians that have the ‘gift’ to play an instrument and ‘bring the house down’ with their amazing skill and talent. The instruments are played with such art that the audience will listen ‘spellbound’ at their performances. The amazing thing is that their musical playing skills and singing are never forgotten and loved by many for centuries.

Since theater began in ancient Greece, people have been making it their own. This is why different regions have unique styles of theater. A few interesting examples are present in the theater of India, Japan, and Czechoslovakia.

In India, traditional theater is focused in religion and folklore. Kutiyattam, the only remaining form of Sanskrit theater, is performed entirely in Sanskrit within ancient “temple theaters”. Swang, a modern theater form, is dialogue-based and tells various folk, religious, and mythological tales. Since most of the performance is improvisational, extensive knowledge of various songs and lines is required.

Japan is home to some of the oldest classic theater. The popular Kabuki theater revolves around lively stories that separate them from their earlier predecessor, Noh, which is a more subdued style of acting. In both styles costumes, masks, make-up, and even the order in which the actors enter the stage distinguish main characters from the rest of the cast. Interestingly, most Japanese dramas are still performed by all-male casts as they were in the Edo Period.

Prague, Czechoslovakia, is called the capital of black light theater. More modern than the previous examples, black light theater relies on the human eyes’ inability to distinguish black objects from a black background and the use of UV (ultraviolet) lights on fluorescent objects. The effect is a dazzling, glow-in-the-dark play.
